Upper Settle phone box

Postcard art in a phone box

The Gallery on the Green is based in Settle, North Yorkshire and is thought to be the smallest art gallery in the world. Drawings, paintings, photographs and other unique works of art are housed in a former BT telephone kiosk in a beautiful rural setting.

Visitors are asked to contribute their postcards of either their own work, or pictures of works of art, which we suggest may depict something about either your visit to Settle or your own home town or village. Full instructions on how to make contributions are given here.

We think that the Gallery on the Green is the smallest art gallery in the world. If you know of a smaller one, please let us know! The Gallery on the Green is a project run by part time volunteers from Cultivating Settle and residents of The Green, Upper Settle. Gallery on the Green has received sponsorship from Craven District Council and Settle Town Council. The Gallery on the Green was featured on BBC Breakfast TV on 11th July 2009, the day it was officially launched.

NEWS >We won £1000 in BT's competition for innovative uses of their former payphones. Our current exhibition is called 'Winter wonderland' and features local amateur artists. See the blog for more information.
