October 2009 - Postal Art
Since receiving publicity in July 2009 when it launched, the Gallery received a steady stream of contributions by post, over the rest of the summer. This became the subject of the ‘Postal Art’ Exhibition in October 2009. Contributions included a group of postcards from Oxfordshire artists Emma Bradford and Neil Philip, who saw an article about the Gallery on the English Buildings blog and a fine collection of watercolours from Ken Carter, nephew of one of the residents of the Green. Grace Wild, who lives in Settle, sent a photograph taken from a train – all the way from Kazakhstan! York U3A held a special workshop session to create a set of postcards for us. A number of contributors are sent in anonymously, but are not any the less welcome for that. |
