On-line art gallery

Summer 2009- Our First Exhibition
Response to the new gallery has been extremely positive and rewarding with a significant number of contributions coming from local artists, school children and well-wishers. Following the piece on BBC Breakfast Time and Radio 5 Live further contributions arrived through the post, some from overseas. Others were left in the gallery by visitors to the gallery, all of which created an ever-changing feel to the original installation. With such an amazing start we are now planning a whole range of exhibitions for the coming year, some of which will be created by local groups keen to use the gallery as a showcase for their work. Others exhibitions will focus on the work of an artist, theme or collection. Watch this space!!

Local artists
We were very happy to include works by a wide range of local artists as we believe it is important to encourage and celebrate their achievements. As one artist wrote on the back of her submission “My very first piece of artwork to be exhibited....what a start!”

Settle Primary School
The staff and children of Settle Primary School rose to the challenge to create around fifty wonderful hand-drawn cards that everyone has delighted in seeing. Congratulations and thanks to them all!!

Other Contributions
Especially pleasing were the postal contributions that came from all quarters of the globe, the most distant being from Oregon and Alberta. The youngest contributor in this section was Isabel aged eleven, who came from Ecuador to stay with her grandmother in Settle. She also contributed an imaginative piece of land art created from grass-cuttings, for which see our blog pages. Keep sending in your postal contributions as they are always welcome.
